Abstract

|
A survey of chigger mites as the vector of scrub typhus was performed in 10 locations from September to November 2015 in Korea. During the survey period, 3,346 chigger mites were collected. The first appearance of chigger mite was on the 37th week with average density of 9.2.-9.9. The highest density was on the 44th week with average density of 10.12-10.28. The high collection rates were recorded at a grass field (39.8%) and field (35.1%). The relationship between climate and density of chigger mites needs to be studied through a long-term study.
